II International Conference “Yamal Peninsula: Oil and Gas Prospects” took place on October 4, 2012 in Moscow.
Conference participants emphasized issues of fuel and energy industry development at Yamal with regards to its interactions with natural environment. Current and future development of Yamal Peninsula was discussed.
Plenary and work sessions presented complementary approaches to the problem. At the plenary session speakers presented projects of energy resources development and discussed their effectiveness. Work session emphasized technological and environmental challenges relevant to the regional development.
SPF “DIEM” presentation “Strategic Environmental Assessment as an instrument for optimization of the hydrocarbon pools development in the Obsko-Tazovskaya Guba” (speaker – Tatyana Severyukhina) provoked an active feedback from participants. It was outlined that it was one of the first Russian studies in this field, which is quite important in methodological and practical aspects, useful for further development of SEA methodology and relevant legal issues.
