Industrial Environmental Monitoring during construction
In compliance with legal regulations industrial environmental monitoring (IEM) should be performed in the vicinity of potentially hazardous industrial facilities while their construction. Effective IEM secures environmental safety (also in case of emergencies).
IEM makes it possible to control impacts on different components of environment and carry out mitigation measures during facilities’ construction.
There are several types of industrial environmental monitoring:
- air monitoring,
- soil conditions monitoring,
- monitoring of geological environment,
- monitoring of surface waters and bottom sediments,
- waste waters monitoring,
- vegetation and wildlife monitoring,
- harmful physical impacts monitoring,
- background radiation monitoring.
IEM regulations development depends on:
- specific features of designed facility,
- local environmental conditions,
- requirements of existing standards and procedures of work performance,
- parameters, assessed during IEM.
Information, obtained during IEM procedures forms baseline data for modeling of “industrial facility – environment” interaction. Determined trends are the bases of detailed prognosis and recommendations for mitigation measures (for construction and implementation stages) development.
